The Secret Winter Wonderland of Madrid

Madrid and winter wonderland aren’t words that you would necessarily associate with one another. Much to my delight though, I found the perfect wonderland a little over an outside of the city centre of Madrid. Saying that I have died and gone to snow heaven would be a slight under statement. I love snow and all things snow sports that come with it.

I don’t want to babble on, but I would like to share some photos with you and tell you how you can get to this skiers paradise (or if you cant ski, sledging).

  1. Find a friend
  2. Take them and yourself off to Moncloa Bus Station
  3. Locate bus number 691
  4. Sit on the bus for around 80 minutes until you arrive at the stop Puerto De Cotos
  5. Take a stroll down to the Cercanias Train Station where you can rent skis, snow shoes or sledges
  6. GO AND HAVE FUN!!

WARNING: we took the bus at 9.25 and I think this is the last bus going all the way up to Cotos so don’t miss it. The buses are very infrequent on the way back too. We took the first one back down at 16.30 but there was another one slightly later on too.
